Dates – fresh barhi date (rutab) – frozen

Description

We ripen the barhi dates until they are soft, brown and deliciously sweet. Our fruit preparation team then either freeze them whole in vacuum packs or remove the pits and skin then freeze the pulp so you can decide which from you would prefer, frozen whole barhi dates or frozen barhi date pulp.

The frozen dates can be eaten neat and whilst the pulp can also be eaten neat, it’s optimal for adding natural sweetness to your recipes including smoothies and baking!

The barhi date is considered the sweetest and creamiest of all dates. As it has a lower than average astringency, this date is edible during all three stages of ripeness.

In general, the Barhi date provides a varying degree of sweetness depending upon its ripeness level, ranging from fresh sugar cane to coconut and butterscotch.

They are a rich source of fiber, iron, potassium, B-vitamins, flavonoids and antioxidants.
