Chokeberry and raspberry tea

Description

Chokeberries are cultivated as ornamental plants and as food products. The sour berries, or aronia berries, can be eaten raw off the bush, but are more frequently processed. They can be found in wine, jam, syrup, juice, soft spreads, tea, chili starters, beer and ice cream. The name “chokeberry” comes from the astringency of the fruits, which create the sensation of making one’s mouth pucker.

Chokeberries are believed to have many health benefits: rich in anthocyanins, carotenes, flavonoids, and other organic antioxidants, in addition to vitamins and minerals, these super berries can play a major role in boosting health and treating/preventing a number of medical conditions.

Raspberries also are said to have medicinal qualities, containing strong antioxidants such as vitamin C, quercetin and gallic acid that fight against cancer, heart and circulatory disease and age-related decline.
