Description
We source our sour tamarind from both Bangladesh and St Lucia. It’s been removed from the shell and packed in sealed plastic packets. The fibre and seeds are still included.
The flesh is dense and moist, similar to that of ripe fresh dates. Due to the rich and sour flavour, this fruit is more commonly used in cooking or drinks-making to achieve a tangy taste.
When eaten neat out of hand, some people choose to add sugar to balance the sourness.
Sour tamarind is used in different cuisines across the world, particulary in South and Southeast Asia and West Africa where curries, soups and meat based stews are all flavoured with this versatile fruit.
