Stone apple cream (also known as bael)

Description

Bael is an amazing fruit used in South Asian cuisine, particulaly to make a healthy digestion-enhancing juice. The flavour of bael is unique, it resembles egg fruit with a citrus edge. Some people liken it to marmalade!

Bael has a hard shell which takes some effort to crack. It’s the appearance, and toughness, of the outer shell which earns this fruit the nickname ‘stone apple’.

The yellow to brown flesh is dry and filled with many small seeds, fibres and there are also some pockets of clear sap which is like a natural sugar syrup with a hint of citrus.

The scent of this fruit is glorious, it resembles peach, lime, and passion fruit.

Our bael fruit cream is produced in Sri Lanka from perfectly ripe fruits. It’s generally used to make beverages but can also be served with ice cream.

Packed in 750g tins (drained weight 650g)
