Rambutan – Thailand

Description

The unusual name for this fruit is derived from the Malay word ‘Rambut’ meaning hair! In Vietnamese it’s known as chôm chôm, which translates to ‘messy hair’.

The rambutan is related to the lychee and also has a flavour similar to lychee mixed with pineapple.

They are sweet, juicy and a Southeast Asian favourite. Easy to eat.

Rambutan will be either red, orange or yellow when you receive them. There is some variation in the colour of the hairy shell but inside the flesh should always be white.
