Description

Noni is a tropical plant native to Polynesia. Not only does it look unusual, it also has a particualy unique flavour and aroma! These small rough-skinned fruits are very pale to honey-yellow in colour when ripe.

Most commonly compared to strong cheese, noni is more often consumed for its health benefits rather than its flavour.

Fresh ripe noni is certainly a fruit that any fruit lover would enjoy trying once but in countries where it grows, it has a regular place in the diet for many. It is eaten raw, with cheese and salt, which is believed to complement its savoury taste. It’s sometimes also cooked and eaten with curry, and in Thailand, noni is added to some types of som-tam, a popular salad made with green papaya. Its leaves are used in Thai cuisine too.

Noni drink can be made by either blending the fruits with water or fermenting them. The fermented drink is usually consumed in small doses on a daily basis as a nutritional supplement.

Noni fruits are particularly difficult for us to source as there are few commerical farms, on which the majority of the harvest is used for drink production. Also, noni can ripen and become soft very quickly, making them a challenging fruit to successfully export. We have limited availability of this fruit so if you’re eager to try, we would advise purchasing as soon as you see it in stock, as it’s likely they wont last long!
