Description
Undoubtedly one of the most exquisite fruits of the tropics. In the late 19th century, it was rumoured Queen Victoria would grant a knighthood to anyone who brought her mangosteen. This, as well as its superb flavour, was enough to earn the mangosteen a new name, “the queen of fruits”.
Mangosteen are sweet and citrusy at the same time. The juicy flesh creates an explosion of flavours in the mouth. Some people liken eating mangosteen to sherbet. The flavour is compared to a mouthwatering mix of lychee, peach, grape and pineapple.
There are are many health benefits to eating mangosteen. You can find a wealth of information from a simple internet search.
