Mango – ceylon

Description

A smooth, stringless and very sweet mango that originate from Sri Lanka. They have a yelow-orange flesh which can be easily scooped out from the skin.

We source ceylon mangoes from Grenada, where they are highly regarded by the locals. Many believe they are even better than the Julie mango, which is a famous mango grown in the Caribbean.

Ceylon (Sri Lanka) was reported to have some of the best mangoes when visited in the early 1900s by occultist & explorer Aleister Crowley. He claimed the very northern tip of the island (Jaffna) was mango paradise that far surpassed the fruits found in India. As a result, mangoes originating from Ceylon have been transported around the world to be cultivated in other warm climates.

The mangoes have unique parrot-beak shaped tips, hence the nickname Parrot Mango!
