Lemon – jara lemon – fresh and dried

Our jara lemons are mostly sour with a hint of sweetness. The smell of a jara lemon is highly aromatic and sweet.

The jara lemon originates from Bangladesh, where it has been said to be one of the top ranking countries for cultivating the lemon tree!

Looks are deceiving, this unique citrus is neither a lime or lemon species!

It is only in recent years that the jara lemon has become available to foreign countries, a farmer in Sylhet said “We’re cultivating jara Lemon commercially now but our ancestors used to produce it only to meet the family need.”

Jara lemons are a medium sized citrus and weigh on average 200g.

Our dried jara lemons are washed, sliced and dehyrated. There are no added ingredients. Simply add the dried jara lemon to your recipes to impart a unique citrus flavour or steep in hot water with some sweetener for a Bangladeshi twist on a ‘hot lemon’.
