Bearberry is a plant that grows in the alpine areas of the northern hemisphere. As the name indicates the red berry is commonly enjoyed by bears. Although the leaves are also known for their medicinal benefits.

It was believed by natives that the leaves are good for detoxing.

Commonly known to be in smoking mixes, bearberry holds the name ‘kinnikinnick’ meaning ‘mixing smoking herb’.
