Tamarillo – frozen pulp

Description

Tamarillo have become increasingly popular because of their unique flavour and nutritional benefits. They are egg shaped and slightly larger than the size of an egg. There are 3 varieties, red, gold and amber.

They have a rich sweet-savoury flavour that tastes like ‘smokey spiced tomato’. Once sliced, the red tamarillo are the most visually striking making them popular with chefs and bartenders.

Tamarillo are high in vitamins and iron, whilst being low in calories – about 40 calories per fruit.

The 250g pulp of the tamarillo fruit is frozen at source in Colombia once the seeds and skin have been removed. It’s strained to make it smooth then separated into 250g sachets before being frozen. The 500g container are frozen from fresh at our own premises.

The flavour is like fresh tamarillo and it retains the nutritional goodness as it’s quickly processed and flash frozen soon after being harvested.
