Star apple

Depending on the time of year and country of origin you will receive either green or purple star apples.

This amazing fruit is named because of its sweet milky juice!

It has anti-oxidant properties. The milk fruit exists in three colours: dark purple, greenish brown and yellow. The purple fruit has a denser skin and texture, while the greenish brown fruit has a thin skin and a more liquid pulp; the yellow variety is difficult to find.

The fruits are perfectly round and 3 inches in diameter. A radiating star pattern is visible in the pulp, hence the nickname ‘star apple’.

In Vietnam, the most famous variety is Lò Rèn milk fruit from V?nh Kim commune, Ti?n Giang Province.

Infusions of the leaves have been used against diabetes and articular rheumatism.
