Description
Peru has wonderful limes, known as Limón Sutil – they are small, tart but not as bitter, and have a more balanced flavour than the Persian or Tahitian Limes which are usually found in the UK. The rind isn’t as thick and they vary from green to yellowish in external color.
They are favoured in Peru mainly for use in ceviche, pisco sour and also used to marinate red meats.
Limón sutil fulfil most of the demand for limes in Peru. They’re grown in the northern Peruvian region of Piura.
Due to a shorter shelf life than other lime varieties which can be sent to the UK by sea which takes around 1 month or more, Limón Sutil have to be picked efficiently and quickly exported to the destination.
