Description
Jeruk limo is similar to the more well known kaffir lime. They both have a rich green colour and are small and very flavourful. However there are some differences between these two versatile varieties of citrus.
The kaffir lime has a distinctly wrinkled skin and less juice, while jeruk limo has a thick irregular skin, but much more juice than the kaffir lime.
Like the leaves, the fruit releases a pleasant small when touched or squeezed. Due to their fragrance, jeruk limo have become a staple ingredient in Indonesian cuisine. They are very popular for a variety of Sambal, as well as seafood dishes. They’re also used for soup-like dishes and bakmi.
Jeruk limo are best used before they ripen, when they are still green.
