Guinep – fresh and frozen

Description

Guinep are small tropical fruits from the Caribbean and Central/Southern America which are around 2-3cm in diameter. They have a short season of a few months when the bunches of fruits are harvested to be mainly eaten locally, but some are also exported to western markets.

This fruit goes by the nickname ‘lemon sorbet fruit’ because of the sweet flavoured pulp which somewhat resembes lemon.

As guinep are quite seasonal and only available for a few months each year we buy extra stock when they are in peak season and freeze them so we can offer this wonderful fruit all year round – or until stocks last!

The guinep are frozen both whole and peeled. They’re ready to eat after defrosting.

You can mix peeled guinep with water and maybe a hint of sugar to make delicious guinep juice – yum!

Our frozen guinep are offered in 300g vacuum packs (peeled) and 500g vacuum packs (whole fruits). Please note the vacuum packing process may sometimes cause the green peel of some fruits to split. This will not affect the flesh inside*.*
