Description
Green coconuts, or young coconuts, are also known as ‘jelly nuts’ because of the thin layer of jelly-like coconut flesh, which is present when they are havested. The flesh is usually a light grey colour and translucent, resembling jelly.
The green coconuts are harvested when they are young whilst the coconut water is still crisp and refreshing and the coconut flesh is still thin and soft. It has a large amount of coconut water and a small layer of jelly-like coconut meat.
The coconut water in jelly nuts is crisp with a slight sweetness – perfect healthy hydration.
Our green coconuts are either from Costa Rica, or from farms in St Lucia (The farms in St Lucia follow organic farming practices, however these farms do not hold organic certification).
The green coconuts from Costa Rica travel by sea however the green coconuts from St Lucia travel by air.
An average size Jelly nut weighs 1.5kg
Sometimes our suppliers will cut the husk at one end of the coconut. This makes them smaller and lighter and therefore costs less to transport.
